Effects of incoming fire?
« on: June 02, 2020, 07:04:54 PM »
Nearly ready to get the second game going, so these are just thoughts.
It seems that the effect of small arms/mg`s etc on enemy infantry is in direct relation to size of the target unit?
However it may be that such effects are relative to the technical ability/fieldcraft of the target. So a T2 unit is used to being under fire, has established drills to cope and due to its experience difficult to pin down because it uses ground well and has good unit cohesion.
A T5 platoon would be the opposite and be much more likely to go to ground and fail to return effective fire. They wouldnt necessarily run away but would be easier to pin down.
Is this line of thought valid?
Therefore a later war veteran british infantry unit might be technically quite good, but unwilling to take casualties, so maybe CT2.

It is and is wy we have the fieldcraft rule in there (which will be in full realism version) where a t2 ignores the first w and T1 the first 2 through being exceptional int heir use of cover.

Yes, understand that, but I was also referring to the requirement for achieving suppression.
It seems that a large unit will be less likely to become suppressed regardless of quality?

My feeling is that suppression is really down to amount of fire 'per person" sot hat makes sense.
But I take your point and might be better reflected with ease of recovering from suppression being BLACK for T1/2 or A/B?
GREEN for DT4 or worse.

So same tendency t hit the deck but grater tendency to get back into the fight.

Thats sounds like a viable option and makes more use of different skill levels.
Like it.
